Lately, I’ve been really enjoying photos processed B&W and out of focus, sometimes the focus is on an object in the foreground, other times the out of focus nature of the photograph comes from movement.  In most cases, there is a strong black point in the photo and an overall darker appearance.  To me, these photos feel like memories and invoke quite a bit of emotion to me.  With no commitments as to how often I will contribute to this series, I will continue to publish photos that fit this feel for me.

The first photo is of my daughter reading.  My wife and I were speaking the other day that my daughter’s entire life consists of gymnastics, reading, playing the piano, and sleeping.  That is what she spends her time doing.

This photo is a typical scene in our life, Min spends a great deal of time making sure we eat home-cooked meals.  She is a terrific cook and it is a pleasure to me that she places such importance in our life of eating together.

89/365: Children

without comments

This is my first published shot with off camera flashes.  I had many others strobist shots that turned out better, but none of my children being children.

My children love to read.  We are constantly walking past their rooms at night and finding them with a flashlight or some other lighting device reading.  It is great.

Strobist Info: 1 Gelled flash at 1/32 power held by my son.  Triggered by CyberSync triggers.
