Modern Suburbia along with its Home Owners Associations are an attempt at enforcing order.  There are regulations on yards, roof pitch angles, percentage of the front of your home that has to be brick, the list goes on and on.  I live in a place governed by such regulations and understand what they are trying to do, but I no longer agree entirely with the forced sameness of everything.
